Spice Council to attend ASTA centenary celebrations
PARTICIPATION:The American Spice Traders Association (ASTA) has
invited the members of the Spice Council to attend their 100th
Anniversary Celebrations at Ritz-Carlton Laguna Niguel, Dana Point,
California from April 16-19.
The Spice Council (TSC) to elevate the global awareness of Sri Lankan
spices and to re-establish “Ceylon Spices” as a recognised brand in the
world market, organised two visits to the US in March and October 2006.
The Spice Council’s participation at these meetings will help to
popularise Ceylon Spices in the US Market and will provide an
opportunity to promote the brand “Ceylon Spices”.
Sri Lanka is working towards obtaining protection under geographical
indication for Ceylon Cinnamon under the TRIPS agreement of the WTO and
subsequently for other Ceylon spices.
Chairman of The Spice Council Sarada de Silva has been invited to
make a presentation on Ceylon Spices at the business meeting.
The Spice Council will also take part in the Table Top exhibition
which will be held on April 17.
