SLFP proposals to be tabled at the upcoming All Party Conference is now being finalised by the party’s Central Committee after the initial document of 20 pages has been whittled down to 12 pages on President Mahinda Rajapaksa’s instructions.

President returns after successful Rome visit

PRESIDENT Mahinda Rajapaksa returned to the island early yesterday after a highly successful visit to Rome and the Vatican. Ministers A. H. M. Fowzie and Douglas Devananda were at the Bandaranaike International Airport to welcome the President and his official delegation, who arrived by a special Mihinlanka flight.

Hedging arrangements planned for crude oil

THE Ceylon Petroleum Corporation was able to conclude the first oil hedge with Standard Chartered Bank for 150,000 diesel barrels and expects to go for hedging arrangements for crude oil in the future, Minister of Petroleum and Petroleum Resources A.H.M Fowzie said.
