Indian PM asks Pakistan to stop âterrorist activitiesâ
INDIA: Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh asked Pakistan to honour
its commitment to halt âterrorist activitiesâ in the disputed Kashmir
region to achieve peace after 60 years of animosity.
Addressing pro-Indian politicians in the Indian-controlled portion of
Kashmir, Singh said his country has engaged sincerely with Pakistan to
resolve all pending issues.
âHowever, these efforts will not be fruitful unless a peaceful
environment is created through honouring of commitments made, in letter
and spirit, to curb terrorist activities,â Singh said.
âEvery possible action would be taken to see that the deployment of
security forces was directly related to the scale of the problems on the
ground which they are required to tackle,â he said.
