President orders speedy public safety measures during floods
COLOMBO: President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday issued specific
instructions to the Colombo Municipal Council and the Road Development
Authority officials for speedy measures to clear all obstacles and
ensure that the public are not endangered in the wake of floods in the
city and outlying areas as witnessed yesterday.
The Presidential directive comes in the wake of the damage caused to
life and limb in last morning’s deluge together with the traffic jams
and other hassles that had to be endured by the public in the city.
The President also requested these officials to have awareness
programmes for the public so that they would be fully geared to act in
such situations.
The Public has been requested to contact the following numbers with
