Translated Thripitaka text handed over to President

COLOMBO: The Most Ven. Weligama Gnanarathana Mahanayaka Thera of Amarapura Sect’s Sadharna Yukthika Nikaya handed over translated and concise versions of Thripitaka texts in Sinhala to President Mahinda Rajapaksa at Temple Trees last morning.

The Buddhist texts have been translated into Sinhala by the Mahanayaka from the original Pali work. Most Ven. Dawuldena Gnanissara Uttaritara Mahanayaka Thera, Ven. Theripeha Somananda Thera, Ven. Ambalangoda Sumangala Thera, Ministry Secretary P. Kodituwakku and Buddhist Affairs Commissioner W. Sunil were present.

The first copy of a monthly Buddhist magazine Daham Sarana published by the Buddhist Commissioner’s Department, was also handed over to the President.
