Chris wins Seiko-Kai National Karate cup

KARATE: Eleven year old Chris Mendis a student at Colombo South International College won the 4th Annual Seiko-Kai National Karate Championship held recently at the Sugathadasa Indoor Stadium, Colombo.

This was his first win at this level. Top reach this he defeated one of the leading Iranian Karateka and Sri Lankan competitors during this championship. His ambition for the future is to become a Black Belt after mastering finer points of the Martial Arts.

He says Karate helps to improve, self defence, self discipline, health and good behaviour.

Chris does his Karate under instructor, Ruwan Satharasinghe, who is a 9th Dan Japan Koshiki Karate Do and Chief Instructor of the Sri Lanka branch.

Chris intends to compete in international events to bring honour to his motherland.
