Badulla Soccer fans perturbed over BFL conduct

PERTURBED: Soccer Clubs and Soccer fans in Badulla are perturbed as the Badulla Football League had failed to complete the 2006 League tournament and had todate not taken any action to commence the 2006 knockout Tourney.

It was only in 2005 Badulla League won the best League award presented by the Football Federation of Sri Lanka. The next year they have failed to complete the ‘A’ division tourney where only five teams are participating.

The first round of the ‘A’ division was completed and the second round is yet to commence.

It is true that the president of the Badulla Football League had been transferred to Nuwara Eliya and the Secretary busy running around officiating matches in Colombo and abroad. Why can not the Vice Presidents and Assistant Secretary take steps to complete these tournaments.

Meanwhile Annual General Meeting of the Badulla FL should have been conducted by end of February but todate notice had not been circularized.

A Football Match Officials were assaulted by several players at the Independence Football tournament and it is more than two months after the incident but no action had been taken against the players concerned todate.

It was also surprising to note that Ratnapura District under 19 Football team recently beat Badulla by 5 goals to nil at the Vincent Dias Stadium in Badulla.

Incidentally this was the first time in the history of Badulla that Badulla lost in their home grounds. At this game Badulla had only 11 players and there were no reserves to replace during injury!

AFC Vice President Manilal Fernando laid a foundation stone for an International Football Stadium in Badulla last August and promised to complete the work by end of this year! Todate no action had been taken to commence work!!

It was only in the recent past that Football in Badulla was given a new life, but at present it looks like all efforts would not bring in good results.
