MR. PRESIDENT PLEASE HELP
Residents close to the Kelani River are living in fear as a section of the river bund near Udana Mawatha, Gonawala, has washed away. What is now left is only about a 10 feet wide section of the 60 feet wide bund. It is continuously getting washed away. Several Ministers and Deputy Ministers inspected the site promising action, but they have not been seen since. The monsoon is likely to commence any time and if the bund breaches, at least 1,000 houses and the Biyagama-Colombo road will go under water. Residents appeal to President Mahinda Rajapaksa to consider their plight and take immediate action to repair the bund.
