Access undertakes major telecom expansion projects

TELECOM PROJECTS: Access Telecommunication Technologies has
undertaken implementing telecommunication projects to the value of
around USD 50 million, Joint Managing Director, Access Telecommunication
Technologies Ranjan Gomez said.
“Under these projects several services were offered in the field of
GSM expansion, 3G Network implementation, fibre optic network, microwave
linking for all the mobile operators in Sri Lanka,” he said.
Gomez said Access Telecommunication Technologies now has a presence
in every segment of the telecommunication industry.
“We provide network solutions, infrastructure development for
telecommunication installations, telecommunication engineering services
and mobile handset distribution. Every segment in the telecommunication
industry is addressed through the services provided,” he explained.
“The company is associated with some of the most reputed
manufacturers of telecommunication products and services like NEC Corp.,
Japan, Huawei Technologies of China, Harris Corp of USA, Eaton Power
Quality of New Zealand, Tellabs Corp of Finland, Andrew Telecom Corp of
USA and Keithley of Germany. The company has around 25 highly skilled
engineering and technical staff,” Gomez said.
He said with the telecom industry contributing around 20% to the
country’s GDP and with potential for more growth in the next three
years, Access Telecommunication Technologies is confident of growing
from strength to strength.
“In its diversification Access Telecommunications Technologies is
looking at setting up a separate unit for servicing and maintaining the
telecommunication infrastructure of all the operators which is a long
term consolidation exercise,” he said.
He added that they are currently working on fibre optic cable project
in the Western Province for Dialog. “ We hope to expand this project as
an islandwide project next year.
We are also implementing 2G/3G networks, and microwave equipment, and
also supplying batteries, rectifiers and antennas for all operators,”
Gomez said.

division of Access Group with two employees and sold telecommunication
equipment to Sri Lanka Telecom. |
