Maldives sinks LTTE arms vessel
Several suspects in Maldivian custody
The Maldivian Coastguard yesterday sank a
suspected LTTE vessel believed to have been transporting weapons. It
was identified as the Indian registered vessel Sri Krishna, which
was reportedly missing since March 12 along with 12 Indian fishermen
from Tamil Nadu and Kerala after being abducted by the LTTE.

President to attend G-11 Summit, World Economic Forum
President Mahinda Rajapaksa yesterday left the
island to attend the G-11 Summit and the World Economic Forum in
Jordan. A high-level business delegation accompanied President
Rajapaksa on this official tour to Jordan by a Mihin Lanka flight.
The business delegation will attend two summits and endeavour to
fulfil an array of new investment opportunities on this tour.

The Transport Ministry has taken steps to select
and nominate 25 Depots of the Sri Lanka Transport Board (SLTB) as
SLTB ‘Model Depots’ to provide a more efficient and people friendly
transport service to commuters.
