Jayaweera Memorial Boxing tourney begins

BOXING: The preliminary round bouts in the light fly weight ‘A’ (33-35 kgs and 13-15 years) of L. V. Jayaweera Memorial Trophy boxing tournament - 2007 commenced with A. A. S. Sandakelum of Ingiriya Vidyalaya beating K. B. C. K. Kodituwakku (St. Aloysius College) with a convincing margin of 18-20.

U. G. R. Srilal (Vilayaya Vidyalaya) overwhelmed K. K. Dilshan (Maharagama CC) by 20 points to 4 when the referee stopped the contest.

G. L. T. D. Silva (Sumangala College, Panadura) defeated P. G. M. Pushpakumara (D. S. Senanayake College, Kandy) with referee stopping the contest due to compulsory count limits.

G. G. D. S. Munasinghe (Royal College, Polonnaruwa) overcame N. Ashan (Ellahanda TS).

S. B. Dissanayake (Pilimatalawa CC) beat N. G. S. Nalhare (Royal, Colombo) by 15 points to 7.

R. F. M. N. Madushanka (Nugawela CC) beat M. T. J. S. Fernando (Basilica) by 18 to 3 RSS O/S

C. Prabath (St. Johns) beat W. P. S. V. P. Rajapakse (Chanadananda) when referee stopped the contest out classed.

The tournament is now in progress at Pilimatalawa Central College and will be continued till Sunday.
