President orders relief to Ethawetunuwewa civilians

COLOMBO: Nation Building Minister S.M. Chandrasena, on President Mahinda Rajapaksa's direction, yesterday visited a school in Elikimbulagala housing 350 persons who fled an LTTE mortar attack in Ethawetunuwewa 10 kilo metres away.

A soldier was killed and three other Forces' personnel and two women were injured in the mortar attack by the LTTE deliberately targeting the civilian population forcing them to flee the area seeking safety.

Steps have also been taken by the Minister to provide food and other requirements to civilians sheltered in the school while Forces personnel have taken steps to strengthen security in the area.
