Battlefront Heroes to be feted at Ranaviru Day

COLOMBO: The greatest tribute that could be paid to the Security Forces personnel is ending the conflict through a political solution, Western Province Chief Minister Reginald Cooray told a media briefing at the Information Department auditorium recently.

The media conference was organised by the Western Provincial Council to explain events of today's "Ranaviru Day" is being held on President Mahinda Rajapaksa's directions.

The felicitation ceremony will be held at Torrington Square.

Paying tribute to the sacrifices of the valiant Forces, the Chief Minister said they are real heroes fighting to protect the country from terrorists.

"Our intention is to appreciate the Forces' valued services for the country," Cooray said.

Provincial Council Chief Secretary Victor Samaraweera detailed the rewards which will be presented at the 'Ranaviru Day'.

Western Provincial Governor Alavi Mowlana also spoke.
