HOROWPOTHANA: A massive housing scheme consisting of 5000 houses for the armed forces and police is to be built in Horowpothana area, along Horowpothana - Kapugollewa road.

The construction of the housing project will be entrusted to the Nation Building Ministry under the supervision of Nation Building Minister S.M. Chandrasena.

The Minister on Saturday visited the locality on an observation tour accompanied by officials to find a suitable site for the scheme.

Minister Chandrasena told the 'Daily News' that one house unit would cost Rs. one million. All infrastructural facilities, such as drinking water, electricity, marketing and recreation will be provided to the housing scheme. "The scheme is going to be the first largest urban housing project for the armed forces and police," Chandrasena said further.
