Five terrorists killed, weapons recovered

BATTICALOA:Five LTTE cadres were killed and several others injured in a confrontation with the Security Forces in Narakamulla, Thoppigala on Wednesday evening. A haul of weapons were also recovered following the incident, the Media Centre for the National Security said.

According to a spokesman from the MCNS, the LTTE cadres were killed when troops successfully repulsed the LTTE attack and uncovered a cache of arms and weapons from the fleeing LTTE cadres”, he added.

Three soldiers suffered minor injuries and were admitted to Maha Oya hospital.

Meanwhile, a soldier was killed and another injured when the LTTE detonated a claymore mine targeting a tractor carrying security forces personnel in Puwarasankulam, Vavuniya yesterday morning.
