Pushpakumara and Jayasekera win Sri Lak road race

ROAD RACE: R.M.S. Pushpakumara of Artillery Regiment of Sri Lanka
Army and J.H.A.T.S. Jayasekera of Sri Lanka Air Force emerged open men's
and women's champions respectively at the Sri Lak Athletic Club
organised annual Road Race which was conducted from Ja-Ela to Negombo
recently.
Pushpakumara clocked an impressive timing of thirty one minutes and
two seconds to come men's first and he obtained altogether a massive 639
points while Jayasekara registered a fine timing of 35 minutes and 54
seconds to end up women's first with a tally of 970 points.
S. Sugath Senaratne of Kelani Valley Sports Club became runner up in
the open men's event where he clocked thirty one minutes and twelve
seconds with a total of 627 points.
S. Sudath Senaratne of Pubudu Sports Club accounted for the third
place where she had a timing of thirty one minutes and twenty nine
seconds after having taken 626 points. H.M.H. Gunaratne of Sri Lanka
Army placed runner up in the open women's event when he clocked thirty
seven minutes and one second and she collected 965 points.
E.A.T. Edirisuriyarachchi of Sri Lak Athletic Club Polonnaruwa
annexed the second runner up place where she registered a timing of
forty one minutes and one second with a tally of 969 points.
Meanwhile in the Boys under 19 event P.W.G. Sanjeewa of Dharmapala
Central College, Ratnapura emerged champion when he clocked a thrilling
timing of thirty two minutes and forty seconds and he collected the
highest tally in the junior event with 575 points.
W.M.S.K. Wanninayake from Rajakeeya Central College, Kurunegala took
the runner up position where he registered thirty four minutes and
twenty seconds and he composed 476 points.
P.M.S. Tissera of Mahanama Central College, Panadura accounted for
the third place where he clocked a timing of thirty five minutes and ten
seconds and he took 584 points. H.I.G. Dananjanee of Sri Lak Athletic
Club, Polonnaruwa finished first in girls under 19 event where she
registered an impressive forty three minutes and thirty four seconds.
She had a total of 229 points.
M.S. Pumika of Sunandapananda Central College, Moratuwa ended up
runner up with clocking a timing of forty four minutes and forty two
seconds and she obtained a tally of 230 points.
K.M.K.N. Ahinsa Fernando of CT and FC accounted for the third place
where she clocked and unimpressive fifty four minutes and forty five
seconds. She collected a tally of 231 points.
Meanwhile, Kelani Valley Sports Club won the men's team championship
title while Vijayabahu Infantry Regiment of Sri Lanka Army placed second
and host Sri Lak Athletic Club were third. |
