President Mahinda Rajapaksa attended the fourth death anniversary and 95th birthday commemoration of the late Mahanayake Thera of the Amarapura Nikaye Most Ven. Govt.lifts fishing restrictions in N-E

Following easing of security threats

The Government has done away with a series of restrictions imposed on fishing activities in the North and East, Presidential Media sources said. The fishing community in the North and East had invariably confronted serious threats and obstacles at the hands of the LTTE. The LTTE had also disguised themselves as fishermen and attacked the Security Forces.

Govt. hands over No Faith Motion against UNP MP

The Government yesterday handed over a No Confidence Motion against Badulla district UNP Parliamentarian Lakshman Seneviratne. Chief Government Whip and Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and several other Ministers handed over the No Confidence Motion to Speaker W. J. M. Lokubandara. It is signed by 78 Government MPs.
