Chifeng Bao Sishun, 56, a seven feet nine inches herdsman listed by the Guinness World Records as the tallest living man and his bride Xia Shujuan, 29, five feet five inches tall, take a walk at a park in Chifeng, north China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Oil tenders within three months

Exploration of petroleum resources expedited:

The Government will call for international tenders to explore oil resources along Sri Lanka's sea belt within the next three months. Petroleum and Petroleum Resources Development Minister A.H.M. Fowzie told the Daily News that tenders for the exploration will be called within the next two to three months after the preliminary work is completed.

Troops discovered an underground LTTE mini hospital during a search operation in Thoppur on Sunday, the Media Centre for the National Security said.

BIA back to 24 hour operations

The Bandaranaike International Airport returned to 24 hour operations from yesterday. Tourism Minister Milinda Moragoda said he expected the airlines to take the cue and return to flying the schedules which were in place before the night closure.

Govt ready for talks

The Government said yesterday it was ready for peace talks anytime if the LTTE would agree for unconditional talks. A Presidential Secretariat spokesman said they had always been ready for unconditional talks, when asked if there had been a fresh request by the Government to the facilitator; Norway to revive the stalled peace process.

Small businesses qualify for GMP certification

The Sri Lanka Standards Institution (SLSI) and the Ministry of Science and Technology, will grant Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification for small businesses, Marketing and Promotion Director, SLSI, Wasantha Meewaddana told the Daily News.
