Govt ready for talks

The Government said yesterday it was ready for peace talks anytime if the LTTE would agree for unconditional talks. A Presidential Secretariat spokesman said they had always been ready for unconditional talks, when asked if there had been a fresh request by the Government to the facilitator; Norway to revive the stalled peace process.

Counterproductive to withhold resources from democratic governments fighting terrorism - Prof. Peiris

There is no justification, either morally or politically, for donor Governments to withhold resources from a democratic administration engaged in combating terrorism, said Minister of Export Development and International Trade Professor G.L. Peiris in Ottawa at a series of meetings with government and business leaders.
