Cricket for mentally retarded

CRICKET: The Ceylon Association for the Mentally Retarded has made elaborate arrangements to conduct a softball cricket tournament for Mentally Retarded persons. The tournament which in also the first of its kind will be held at S. de S. Jayasinghe ground today from 9.00 a.m. onwards.

Dialog GSM has come forward to sponsor the event which they consider as a worthy cause.

Fifteen overs a side games are to be played among five teams from Colombo and Gampaha Districts. The winners will go away with the Dialog Challenge Cup.

The organisers hope to make this an annual event which will be of great importance for Mentally Retarded persons who are not receiving the same civil status in the society.

The teams competing today for the Dialog GSM Challenge Cup are Madiwela Children's Home, Nisansala Children's Home Millennium Children's Home, Preethipura Children's Home and Sumaga and Sanasuma Children's Home.
