STF camps in freed areas

CHENKALADI: Commandant of the Police Special Task Force DIG Nimal Lewke had an in-depth study on the establishment of new STF camps and the security situation in areas which were recently liberated by the Security Forces in the Eastern province, during his recent visit.

The security of the Maha Oya Chenkaladi road bordering to Thoppigala was handed over to Police Special Task Force by the Army recently after it was liberated from the LTTE and DIG Lewke inspected the establishment of STF camps along this route during his tour. The STF has taken steps to strengthen the security along the 47 kilo meters long A-5 road after establishing STF camps along the road to be opened for the general public soon.

The STF also provide security for the people to resettle in their original habitations in the Batticaloa district, for the welfare centres and for the development projects in the Eastern province.

The DIG also inquired the welfare of the STF personnel deployed in the Batticaloa district during his visit and dispatched instructions for the officers about the ways of implementing security plans in the area.
