Student indiscipline in Universities

It is a matter that never dawned on the learned Ministers and politicians of these country. Now it is too late to tackle or arrest this problem of student discipline in the universities. The same cancer has extended its venomous tentacles to other institutions such as Technical Colleges, Leading Colleges in the country and alarmingly to some rural schools.

Politics mingled with education and religion is bane to a country and unless and otherwise a new culture of learning is formulated and forcibly implemented, there is no way out of this mess, which will one day engulf the whole country in fire, because youths don't bother of the consequences or repercussions of their actions once kindled by politics or religion.

It is a disgrace universities becoming slaughter grounds in the recent past and the system needs a 360 degree about-turn or better a decent closure to save the country, from idiotic, uncontrollable force.

Colombo airport on web

The activities in the current world are so modern and dynamic the majority of people are now used to surf the web to find all the required information with a limited time for their day to day life, particularly a traveller who plans to make a tour abroad.

We, as Sri Lankans who take all the trouble to attract more visitors to our country as tourists by promoting our valuable attractions and facilities made available to foreigners are far behind as a very important aspect related to travel is not updated to date.

It's a known fact that all the airports, including small domestic airports in India too are having their own descriptive websites with very valuable information, but not the BIA, the Colombo International Airport with many modern facilities for us to be proud of.

Unfortunately a visitor to Sri Lanka has no way to seek information about facilities made available for them to get out of the Airport and reach a pre planned destination upon his/her arrival at the Colombo Airport. This is a saddening matter, which should be paid more attention by responsible authorities.

It is high time that anyone responsible takes immediate action to make an informative website as soon as possible without waiting until the new International Airport is also completed and begins its operation to publish both airports in one website.

Majority of the International Airport websites contains all the information about flights being operated by them, all flight arrival and departure times, taxi and transport facilities, accommodation facilities available and all sorts of other important facilities being made available to its passengers and many more.

Unfortunately, a foreigner planning to visit Sri Lanka will have to seek information from other websites who have very limited and poor information about our Colombo airport.

Hope this message would help the relevant authorities to give a start on the above matter as soon as possible.

A few years back, there was a website of our Airport with many important information, but it is inactive now, although many other travel related web sites refers to the previous web address given as www.airport.lk.
