Economy grows in second quarter
Balance of payment satisfactory:
The country has recorded a 6.4% economic growth
in the second quarter of this year which is a 0.3% increase compared
to the first quarter of the year, according to the Department of
Census and Statistics.

Fitch Affirms DFCC Vardhana Bank's 'AA- (lka)' national rating
Fitch Ratings Lanka has affirmed DFCC Vardhana
Bank Limited's National Long-term rating at 'AA- (lka)' (AA minus (lka).
The Outlook on the rating is Stable. The principal factor supporting
DVB's rating is the strong implied support assumed to be available
from its parent DFCC Bank (DFCC/'AA (lka)'). DVB is envisaged to
play an important strategic role in DFCC's future plans.

Market positive amid interest for blue chips
The Colombo Stock Exchange gained momentum at
the begging and slowed down in the latter part of the day following
the previous performance in the market yesterday. There was
substantial interest for blue chips and especially for the hotel
sector, its sources said.
