CCC import section 'pre-budget discussion'
In keeping with the objective of promoting, co-ordinating and
supporting the interests of importers, the Import Section of the Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce (CCC) would be hosting its annual pre-budget
discussion at 9 am on Thursday, October 4, 2007 at the CCC Auditorium.
The objective of this discussion is to understand the macro and
industry specific economics plans for 2008, the general outlook of the
budget proposals and whether the budget meets with the expectations of
the business community.
The pre-budget discussion would commence with Chairman, The Ceylon
Chamber of Commerce, Mahen Dayananda, laying out the "Expectations of
the business community of a budget", followed by Precedent Partner, KPMG
Ford Rhodes Thornton & Co, Rajan Asirwatham making a "Critical Review of
previous tax proposals and the way forward".
Chairman, Import section of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Ranjan de
Silva, will speak on the "Issues faced by importers and suggestions"
while Deputy Director, Economic Research, Central Bank of Sri Lanka K.
D. Ranasinghe would speak on "Recent economic developments and
prospects".
The panelists for the discussion and Q & A session are Mahen
Dayananda, Rajan Asirwatham, Ranjan de Silva, K. D. Ranasinghe and
Director Fiscal Policy, Ministry of Finance Dr. S. R. Attygalle.
