The Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL)
and the Bandaranaike Centre for International Studies (BCIS) have tied
up to train the business community on peace building.
This agreement is made to acknowledge the leaders and entrepreneurs
in conflict ridden areas. They are the first hand communicators with the
people with disputes. "We think that it's worth to educate the business
community," Secretary General, FCCISL, Samantha B. Abeywickrama, said.
"We have already trained 40 entrepreneurs from North and East on
identifying conflict areas and reasons for disputes. I would say that
was an interactive programme than a lecture programme. Its much
different to train people in Colombo on conflict of disputes and peace
building."
"These people have first hand experience on harassment of conflicts.
It's much effective to train these people on peace building, Director,
BCIS, Dr. Thusitha Tennakoon said.
"We are planning to have another training programme at Negombo with
the Southern Business Community and North East Businessmen on October
11." |
