Forbes and Walker Tea Award ceremony held

Forbes and Walker Tea Broker (Pvt) Limited held its 125th anniversary of tea brokering in year 2006.

An award ceremony was held recently to commemorate the event. Kalubowitiyana Manager Basil de Simon won the Best Award for 2005 and 2006 in the All Island Highest Sales Average category. Highest Sale Average in the CTC low grown category, most Numbers of top prices, Highest Sale Average in Galle Agro Climatic sub district and All Time Record Price per kilogram were taken into consideration at the selection.

Kalubowitiyana was awarded the Transworld Gold Star Award and the Gold Medal at an award ceremony held in 1999, in New Delhi India, for Excellence in Productivity, Quality Innovation and Management.

Kalubowitiyana CTC tea factory makes profits since 1995. The 2005 price was at Rs. 51.7 million, 2006 at Rs. 63.8 million, and year 2007 at Rs. 64.7 million. It is a government owned company under the Ministry of Plantation Industries.

Basil de Simon is the lecturer of the National Institute of Plantation Management for CTC manufacture.
