Lyceum in thrilling 49-47 win over AIS

LYCEUM International School, Nugegoda had a close 49 points to 47 win over Asian International School in their International Schools under 17 boys basketball tournament fixture played at Colombo International School’s courts, Colombo, recently.

The tournament is organised by the Colombo International School. The former were ahead by a narrow margin of 30 points to 28 at the short whistle.

Sarankan with ten points and Rumesh with nine points stood out for the winners while Yahren with ten points and Waseem with eight points excelled for Asian International School.

Wycherley International School beat Belvoir International School by 37 points to 30 after taking a 17 points to nine lead at half time.

Harean with 12 points and Nabeel with ten points did well for Wycherly International School while Kushan (13) and Mario with nine points were the main scorers for the losers.

Lyceum International School, Wattala trounced British School, Colombo by a massive 60 points to 38 after leading 25 points to 15 at half time.

Gayanga with 19 points and Ashroff with 17 points shone for Lyceum International School while Arul (14) and Yusuf with eight points were the outstanding players for British School.

Asian International School posted a comfortable 74 points to 33 win over Alethea International School after taking a 39 points to 17 lead at the breather.

Anushka with 20 points and Waseem with 19 points were the best shooters for the winners while Justin with 14 points and Vishwa with 8 points were the chief scorers for Alethea International School.

Meanwhile, host Colombo International School coasted to a thumping 62 points to 16 victory over Lyceum International School, Nugegoda after leading 32 points to 6 at the half time in their International Schools under 17 girls basketball tournament match played at the same venue.

The tournament is being organised by the Colombo International School.

Oshadi Karunaratne with 24 points and Onella Karunanayake with 16 points shone for the winners.

Alethea International School overwhelmed British School, Colombo by a margin of 37 points to 18. The half time scores stood at 17 points to six in favour of Alethea International School.

Sheloni with 16 points and Saohien with ten points excelled for the winners while Anethra fought a lone battle for British School scoring nine points.

Host Colombo International School registered another easy 59 points to four victory over Royal Institute after taking a 26 points to two lead at the short whistle in their second match.

Once again Oshadi Karunaratne with 16 points and Onella Karunanayake with 14 points were the top scorers for the winners while Raveesha Gamage was the only scorer for Royal Institute with eight points.

Asian International School overcame British School by 46 points to 14 after taking a massive 24 points to one lead at the half time.

Madumathi Ravi with 24 points and Isuruka Pathirana with 18 points did well for the winners while Nathali Ratnayake stood out for British School with 18 points.
