Cornered Tigers clinging to HR lifeline

Defence spokesman Minister, Keheliya Rambukwella yesterday charged the LTTE with cowardice in seeking deliverance from human rights and peace initiatives when cornered by the Security Forces. "This was not the case when it gained the upper hand militarily", he told a media briefing yesterday.

Abortive LTTE attack on Army detachment

An Army detachment in Thalgasmankada in the Yala National Park close to Sithulpawwa, came under LTTE attack around 6.00 p.m. yesterday, military sources told the Daily News last night. It was initially reported that the LTTE terrorists who came in boats had launched the attack on the Army detachment.

Aitken Spence lowest bidder for Port expansion

Four bidders vie for major project:

The PSA Aitken Spence led consortium is the lowest bidder for the construction of the Colombo South Harbour expansion project. The company is likely to get the contract for the project, industry sources said.
