Abortive LTTE attack on Army detachment
An Army detachment in Thalgasmankada in the Yala
National Park close to Sithulpawwa, came under LTTE attack around
6.00 p.m. yesterday, military sources told the Daily News last
night. It was initially reported that the LTTE terrorists who came
in boats had launched the attack on the Army detachment.

Legal action against disruptors
Legal Action will be taken against the groups of
undergraduates responsible for disrupting the opening ceremony of
the new residential hall built at the Peradeniya University which
was to be named after late founder Vice-Chancellor Sir Ivor
Jennings.
