SriLankan Catering continues agreement with Union
SriLankan Catering (Pvt) Ltd. renewed its long-time collective
agreement with the Jathika Sevaka Sangamaya (JSS) employees union,
cementing the efforts of both parties to work towards the success of the
company.
CEO of SriLankan Catering, Dilip Nijhawan said: “SriLankan Catering
has an excellent working relationship with all our employees, who
provide unstinting support to the company. The employee union plays a
significant role in maintaining this relationship,” he said.
This is the fourth agreement signed since 1997 and it covers the
3-year period from 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2010.
Personnel and Administration Manager S. Ubayasiri said: “I am happy
to say that once again negotiations were held in a very cordial manner
between the management team and the branch union. The parent union and
the Employers Federation of Sri Lanka were involved in the final
stages.”
SriLankan Catering, the inflight catering arm of SriLankan Airlines,
is an ISO 9001:2000 certified company. It provides inflight catering for
airlines that fly through Colombo and also operates restaurants at
Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).
The company has won many global and local accolades in recent times,
including a Mercury Award from the International Flight Catering
Association, two Silver Medals and a Bronze Medal at the recent Hong
Kong International Culinary Classic and 23 medals at the Culinary Art
2007 Exhibition.
The agreement covers an extensive range of matters in relation to
SriLankan Catering’s 554 employees, including salaries, benefits and
increments.

Emirates offers Sao Paulo visitors three nights free at Hilton
Hot on the heels of the special fare to Sao Paulo unveiled in Colombo
earlier this month comes another offer from Emirates. This to offer free
