Chevron Sri Lanka, HSBC forge alliance

CHEVRON Lubricants Lanka PLC and the Hong Kong and Shanghai Banking Corporation in Sri Lanka announced a new formal alliance between the two organisations to benefit all HSBC Lifestyle Car Loan customers.

With the signing of the agreement between the two organisations, Chevron and HSBC will explore avenues to bring new experiences and conveniences to selected HSBC clientele.


Agreement: Head of Marketing HSBC Sri Lanka Rienzie Martinesz, CEO HSBC Sri Lanka David Griffiths, Managing Director/CEO Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC Kishu Gomes and Director, General Manager Chevron Lubricants Lanka PLC Imal Fonseka at the signing of agreement between the two organisations.

“We envisage this partnership between us and HSBC to be of mutual benefit to both organisations” says Managing Director/CEO for Chevron in Sri Lanka Kishu Gomes. “We are confident that this venture will further enhance the rewards and benefits for HSBC customers.”

Through this alliance, HSBC Lifestyle Car Loan customers will be entitled to special discounts on all Caltex lubricants and services at Caltex Xpress Lube and Star Lube centres islandwide supporting the changing customer needs and lifestyles.

HSBC Lifestyle Car Loan customers will be issued with a HSBC and Caltex co-branded Loyalty Rewards card that will enable them to benefit from a significant saving on all Caltex products and services.

According to HSBC: “The HSBC Lifestyle Car Loans are the most convenient and hassle-free solution in making your dream of owning a car a reality. And through this new partnership with Chevron, we see exciting new ways for HSBC customers to be rewarded further.”

HSBC Lifestyle Car Loans is a hassle-free service that is available to all those who have a minimum monthly remuneration of Rs. 25,000.

It is part of the innovative Lifestyle Loan range which has enjoyed an enthusiastic customer response since its inception.

Caltex Xpress Lubes and Star Lubes are the company’s global network of premier automotive service centres, designed to offer motorists a professional and reliable vehicle servicing experience.

Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills wins National Productivity Award

NOTEWORTHY achievements in labour, material, energy and capital productivity indicators in 2006-07 by Hayleys MGT Knitting Mills were acknowledged at national level this week when the Hayleys Group’s world-class knit fabric manufacturing company won joint first place at the National Productivity Awards in the Large Scale Manufacturing category.

The company, which earlier this month became the first local fabric manufacturer to achieve SA8000 Social Accountability standard, beat a representative group of large manufacturing entities in many sectors to take this prestigious accolade.

“This is the perfect reward for all the hard work, innovative ideas and commitment by our productivity teams,” Hayleys MGT’s Joint Managing Director Bandula Weerasinghe said.

“A feature of our productivity initiatives is the buy-in at all levels including the production floor.”

Hayleys MGT has the distinction of retaining more than 90 per cent of its work force since its acception in 1994. Value addition per employee in 2006-07 reached a hefty Rs. 1.83 million on sales of Rs. 5.4 billion.

The key productivity ratios used at Hayleys MGT are value-added to turnover, value-added per man hour, value-added to stock holding cost, value-added to material cost, return on investment and value-added per employee.

Elaborating on some of the key productivity related achievements of the company Weerasinghe disclosed that labour productivity had improved 35.9 per cent over the past two years and capital productivity by nearly 12 per cent in the same period.
