Accelerated development programme for Agalawatta
The principle of equilateral development contained in the Mahinda
Chintana concept should be adopted in the development of under-developed
areas, said Disaster Management and Human Rights Minister Mahinda
Samarasinghe.
Minister Samarasinghe who has been appointed Chairman of the
Development Co-ordination Committee of the Agalawatta electorate by the
President to review all development activities taking place in the three
divisional secretariat divisions of Agalawatta, Palindanuwara and
Walallawita said so when he opened his co-odrinating office at
Agalawatta recently.
Samarasinghe said Agalawatta which was the largest electorate in
Kalutara district had many shortcomings which had to be attended to. He
hoped to launch an accelerated development programme to remedy those
shortcomings on a planned basis by identifying priority areas.
Lack of a Cabinet Minister for overall supervision of Government
development activities in the Electorate had been a major shortcomings
for a long time.
The President had remedied this shortcomings by appointing him (Samarasinghe)
as Chairman of the Development Co-ordinating Committee of Agalawatta and
he would fulfil the trust placed by the President on him by launching an
accelerated development scheme in Agalawatta on poor with other
electorates in the country on. |
