Teaching the Science of Life at GCE A/L
Teaching of Biology as a single component was
introduced in other countries about 30 years ago, but in our country
there was a tug - a - war between educational experts who were for
and against this scheme. The presidential task force of 1997 finally
decided to opt for Biology in the midst of this controversy. This
indeed was a step in the right direction.

Like his great grandfather, Anura Yapa began his
political career from the grassroots level. It was a journey from
the Pradeshiya Sabha to the Provincial Council and then to
Parliament. From the rank of a deputy minister he rose to Cabinet
level in no time.
