University of Peradeniya wins Road Race

9th Sri Lanka University Games:

University of Peradeniya won the gold medal in the 10km road race which ended at the University of Kelaniya as part of the ninth Sri Lanka University Games which is now in progress.

Ruhuna and the Kelaniya Universities won the silver and the bronze medals respectively in the event which had a participation of 66 athletes.

This victory lifted Peradeniya University another step ahead of the others as they now lead the points table with a total of 55 points which include four gold medals, three silver and four bronze medals.

The hosts Kelaniya University are in the second slot with 52 points. Moratuwa University holds the third position with a collection of 51 points.

Jaffna University and Uva Wellassa University have failed to gain any points and occupying the last two slots.
