Rugby Asiad is a tremendous success, says Lewke

The President of the Sri Lanka Rugby Football Union DIG Nimal Lewke said that he was happy that Sri Lanka was able to conduct the Singer Rugby Asiad successfully.

The Rugby Asiad in which nine countries are taking part is a tremendous success and a boost for the country's image. I was able to persuade those countries to take part in the Asiad and prove that Sri Lanka is a safe place for visiting sportsmen.

"We were able to go ahead with the Asiad despite many obstacles due to the support extended by President Mahinda Rajapaksa who has given his maximum support to make the event a success", said Lewke.

it is a great honour for the country to stage the Rugby Asiad after 17 years and thanked all the countries for taking part in this Asiad and giving rugby fans in Sri Lanka an opportunity to witness an international rugby tournament.
