Sheetal Samudra opens
Hathoon Sheriffdeen
The PCH Group has ventured into the restaurant business with the
opening of Sheetal Samudra in Colombo 7.
Sheetal Samudra is now picking up business in Colombo. We are also
planning to move on to a sea food market and the ice cream business.
“The investment was Rs. 25 million nearly four months before when we
started Sheetal Samudra, Group Chief Finance Officer, PCH Holding Ltd
Musthaq Ikram said.
“It is time for us move our business into food and beverages
business, since there is scope.
“We have been earning a turnover of Rs. 3 million per month on this
business for the last two to three months. ‘I forecast that we can earn
at least Rs. 5 million monthly after the introduction of the fish market
and the ice cream parlour, he said.
The fish market is an innovative venture of PCH Holdings, where a
variety of fish will be displayed to choose according the taste of
customers. They can choose the variety of fish, amount and the
ingredients to cook them. We will also have expert chefs to prepare the
meals, Ikram said.
He said, in this market the main bottleneck is qualified permanent
labour. Even if we pay a higher remuneration, we find hard to come
across qualified permanent professionals in the field. Many young
qualified men in this field like to work for five star hotels, though we
give better remuneration.
Sheetal Samudra is now catering to the market on the Northern Indian
style. We mainly cater for parties, occasions, and in-house and out
house cuisines. Apart from they do delivery services. The Indian cuisine
market is a high demand market in the Sri Lankan food and beverages
market, General Manager, Sheetal Samudra Mohamed Mannan said.
They are planning to market one of world’s recognised brands of ice
creams “Il Gillato,” he said.

thoroughly dermo-tested making them suitable for all types of children’s
delicate skins”.
The Oriflame Hippo Soap is an exciting hippopotamus shaped soap,
