Umpires to boycott matches involving President’s College

The Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires Association has decided to boycott all matches involving the President’s College junior and senior cricket teams with immediate effect.

This decision was taken following an unruly crowd behaviour during the Astra Cup Under-15 Division One Cricket Tournament final between President’s College and St. Peter’s College played at St. Benedict’s College grounds in Kotahena on Wednesday and Thursday.

As the players were returning back to the dressing room some of the spectators had alleged to have made severe remarks at the two umpires and the Peterite team and the incident was later resolved with the intervention of the match referee.

A spokesman for the Sri Lanka Cricket Umpires Association stated that a player from the President’s College under 15 team was found guilty of a wrongdoing after the final and as a result they will continue to boycott all matches until they receive an apology from President’s College. C.D.
