SMS Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, a cement based product manufacturer celebrated their achievement of Sri Lanka Standard Institute (SLS) product certification at the Galadari Hotel.

Commencing on 2001 as manufacturers of cement interlocking pavers, the company which started out with a very small investment and with locally replicated machines, has gone on to use imported state-of-the-art machines and has marked significant growth ever since.

AWARD: Sampath Gunaratne, Chairman/Managing Director SMS Holdings receiving the award from SLSI and the Chairman Sri Lanka Standards Institute Dr. A. R. L. Wijesekara.

Capturing 50 percent of the manufacturing market, SMS Holdings has proved to be the biggest interlocking pavers' manufacturers in the country two years since its inception.

The company has grown to exporting at a considerable scale in 2004. Some of the standardised interlocking pavers which were imported not longer ago is now being manufactured by SMS to cater to the local industry demand.

Furthermore in 2005 they received the Best Product Award from the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA) for locally manufactured interlocking pavers while in 2007 SLIA awarded the Best Product Award for their innovative Interlocking retaining wall block.

While SMS Realities centre on real estate and targets the middle income group in the suburbs, they concentrate in building customised self-styled houses.

SMS Holdings ventured in to manufacturing of Building blocks in 2006 to answer the local demand created by the tsunami. Today they are being awarded the SLS 855 certificate for cement building block and believe the standardisation certificate will improve the product quality level.
