Army archers overall winners

8th National Archery Championship:

Sri Lanka Army won the overall title at the 8th National Archery Championship which concluded at the Sugathadasa Sports Complex yesterday. They were closely followed by Colombo Archery Club and Police team.

In the women’s category it was Colombo Archery Club that carried away the championship with Police AC and Ananda Balika Vidyalaya finishing as runners up.

Dilhara Salgoda of Colombo Archery Club come up with a top class performance winning six events in the women category. Meanwhile Nimantha Fernando too came up with the same number of victories in the men’s section.

Dilini Gayatri Ariyawansa of Ananda Balika Vidyalaya competing in both U-16 and 18 categories did well to win both age groups. It was notable to see all runners-up to her were school mates Sachini Ubeysiri and Dilhara Kalpani Abeyratne.

Ananda College’s Peshala M. Kalansooriya won the under 16 title while Nipun Sugath Senvriatne Colombo Archery Club took the under 18 boys title respectively.

Thanuja Helandage and H.M.K.M. Wijeratne went away with the men’s and women’s novices.
