K. Hewavitharana, father of two of Pahalawewa, Meewalapathana,
Thalakiriyagama is suffering from an acute heart ailment. Consultant
Cardiologist Dr. Vajira Senaratne has recommended a PTCA and stenting to
save his life. The Consumable needed for this procedure, a Cyper (Drug
Eluting Stent) is estimated to cost Rs. 290,000.
Hewavitharana says he has spent all his savings for a by-pass
operation conducted two years before. Therefore he appeals for public
assistance to raise this money. Any financial aid can be sent to A/C No.
3397 at Kandurata Bank, Galewela Branch.
International Day for the Disabled
The Ceylon Association for the ‘Mentally Retarded (CAMR), will be
hosting events to commemorate the International Day for the Disabled on
December 8 at S. De S. Jayasinghe ground Dehiwela.
A trade fair, sports and cultural events to be held at the ground
from 9.30 a.m. to 5 p.m. will be preceded by a walk; by over 700
mentally retarded persons accompanied by their teachers, carers and
activists from the Dehiwala bridge to S. De S. Jayasinghe ground
scheduled to commence at 9 a.m.
International Day of Persons with Disabilities
The International Day of the Persons with Disabilities falls on
December 3 and will be commemorated at Sri Lanka Foundation Institute
from 9.00 a.m. to 12.15 p.m. headed by Social Services and Social
Welfare Minister Douglas Devananda and his Deputy Lionel Premasiri.
The International Day for the Persons with Disabilities will be
celebrated under the theme ‘Decent Employment for Persons with
Disabilities.’
