Dialog Stretches Broadband on HSDPA on WiMAX

Dialog Telekom PLC, Sri Lanka's premier Telecommunications Company announced today, the introduction of further enhancements to broadband offerings marketed by the company and its subsidiary Dialog Broadband Networks.

The company's High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (HSDPA) based broadband service delivered via USB and PCMCIA High Speed Wireless modems, will now support download speeds of up to 7.2 MBps in selected coverage areas.

7.2 MBps coverage is set to expand rapidly over the next weeks. Dialog's HSDPA service currently supports download speeds upto 1.8MBps across the entirety of the company's 3G network spanning Greater Colombo, Kandy, Galle, Kurunegala, Anuradhapura, Nuwara Eliya and over 100 other towns in Sri Lanka.

Dialog's HSDPA Broadband service is now available on a Rs. 1000/- per month 1Gigabyte plan, in addition to previously introduced plans ranging from Rs. 200 to Rs. 500 per month. HSDPA an evolutionary enhancement of 3G technology, guarantees high speed internet access, rapid downloads of emails and host of other benefits to customers.

In Tandem with enhancements to HSDPA data speeds, the WiMAX based Broadband Wireless Access service offered by Dialog's fully owned subsidiary Dialog Broadband Networks has extended its commercial offering to include a 10 MBps service option designed to meet the demands of high capacity internet users. WiMAX coverage is available across almost 60 towns and cities in Sri Lanka.
