Reggie Candappa Craft Awards on friday

The Reggie Candappa Craft Awards, which will take place for the fourth consecutive year in Friday promises to live up to its well earned reputation as a dynamic, one of a kind celebration of the talents and accomplishments of the advertising industry.

The awards are conducted by The Reggie Candappa Foundation for the Arts and serve as a fitting tribute to the godfather of the local advertising industry, the late Deshabandu Reggie Candappa, a man whose influence on, and contribution to the advertising field lives on in the generation of advertising professionals who trained under his inspirational guidance and who today pass on his high standards of creativity and commitment to perfection.

The awards place emphasis on highlighting the crafting talent and artistic ability of the local industry in the print and electronic mediums, embracing both above and below the line advertising.

This year's Reggie's attracted a record number of participants, and the Foundation handed over the responsibility of selecting the best among them to a highly qualified panel of judges all of whom are industry experts in their individual fields.

The judging panel for the print category, included the Executive Creative Director of BBDO Swara (Pvt) Ltd Upali Herath, Executive Creative Director of Grant McCann-Erickson Russell Miranda, Vice President and Executive Creative Director of JWT, Chandini Rajaratnan, Executive Creative Director of Leo Burnett Solutions Trevor Kennedy and Nelun Harasgama of Wildlight.

The Managing Director of Video Image Suren De Silva, Managing Director of Wrap Factory Steve De Zilva, Executive Creative Director Lowe LDB Nathansoruban S and Managing Director of Masters DDB Mike Masilamani were judges for the Television category, while Radio, a category which was added to the awards for the first time this year, was judged by Managing Partner of Soundtracks Husni Ghouse, Managing Director of Hit Factory Ranga Dissanayake, Creative Director of Triad Advertising Yamil Wickramanayake, Executive Creative Director of Grey Advertising Roy Varkey and Director of Heensare Rajiv Weerasinghe.
