Nokia to increase market share

Nokia will increase its market share in mobile sevices in 2008, President and CEO of Nokia, Olli Pekke Kallasvuo said in his keynote speech at the ‘Nokia World 2007’, their annual investor event in Amsterdam, Netherlands yesterday.

“We have made great strides in strengthening Nokia’s device portfolio over the past year.

“The improvement we’ve made has driven profitable growth and market share gains Nokia has enjoyed in 2007,” he said.

He added that there will be three billion mobile subscribers by the end of this year. “Nokia is shifting to introducing new products, innovations more choices to more people around the world,’ Kallasvuo added.

He noted that the industry, Government and media have to work together to improve the industry. ‘Nokia will also organise ‘Pangea Day’ on May 10, 2008 connecting all the cities around the world.

Nokia’s designs are environmental sensitive and we have saved 100 million euros with the introduction of the small package,” Kallasvuo said.

Executive Vice President and General Manager of multimedia, Nokia, Ansii Vanjoki said Nokia will integrate context to our lives.

“We should integrate Internet into every day life. We do a lot of consumer research and anticipate what consumers will want in the future and developed a research specific methodology.”

Nokia will continue to be a device company while providing services. It is a great challenge and an opportunity. we will make big investments in services,” he said.

‘We will explore all market opportunities. People who never saw a PC now access the internet on their mobile. Having come this far, things should be improved. In 2008 Nokia will have more applications,’ Vanjoki added.

The theme of this year’s event was ‘share more, experience more’’. Nokia also unfolded new innovations at the event.
