Industrial Advisory Committee meets

A productive plan should be made for the coming five or ten years to save foreign exchange through the development of the industrial sector, Industrial Development Minister Kumara Welgama said.

"There should be a plan and a target without which we cannot achieve anything," the Minister said.

A discussion with the Industrial Advisory Committee of the Ministry to plan the projects for the future was held yesterday.

He said there were 10 Corporations under the Ministry of Industrial Development including textile industrial sector too. Therefore the progress of the industrial sector would stop if immediate solutions are not found with a special interest.

The Ministry had contributed a great account relevant to the progress of the industrial sector of the country and identified their drawbacks as not being able to find instant solutions.

If there are any problems deriving from the development of the industrial sector of the country, a speedy solution could be obtained through similar discussion too, the Minister added.
