US Ambassador in Sri Lanka Robert O. Blake met Minister of Export Development and International Trade Prof. G. L. Peiris recently at the head office of the Export Development Board (EDB). Among the topics discussed were the international programmes and other activities launched by the Sri Lanka-American Chamber of Commerce to enlighten the involved parties on the importance of intellectual property rights and the necessity to protect them. Also in attendance were Secretary to the Ministry of Export Development and International Trade S. Ranugge, Executive Director, Sri Lanka-American Chamber of Commerce Gorden Glick, Director-General, National Intellectual Property Office Dr. D. M. Karunaratne and Kami Wilmer, Economic and Commercial Attache, US Embassy were also present.


Govt will liberate North soon - President

President Mahinda Rajapaksa asserts that his Government which liberated the East, would likewise liberate the North as well by next year and provide equal health facilities to all by the provision of a fully-equipped hospital in every district.

Passing of Budget - victory for patriotic forces

The Democratic Group of the United National Party was jubilant that the Government was able to pass the 2008 Budget with a decisive majority defeating all the reactionary forces who were aiming to topple the Government and create instability in the country, Leader of the UNP-D Group Minister Karu Jayasuriya said in a statement.
