WSP junior ruggerites win two games

Western Province Schools under 16 ruggerites touring Thailand did well to win their last two games against Mattagomwatsrichanpradit College.

First it was Sri Lanka Schools Blue team that defeated their hosts five points (one try) to nil. Pathum Dewsith scored the only try that came in the 6th minute of the game which went unconverted. This also was the only scoring done by both teams during the duration of the match.

The second game saw the Schools Red team come up with a better performance to trounce the host team by a margin of 20 points (four tries) to nil. The Lankan team failed to convert any of the tries.

The try scorers for the winning team were S.U. Deegala in the 5th minute. Three minutes later Malintha Soysa scored, the other two tries too came in the first session when Sharindra Iroshan 20th minute and Kavindu Gayan pouched down in the 27th minute to put things beyond Hosts reach.

These tour has given the young ruggerites a load of experience which is a vital one for them as well as for the sport. The young ruggerites are expected to arrive today in the island.
