WSP junior ruggerites win two games
Western Province Schools under 16 ruggerites touring Thailand did
well to win their last two games against Mattagomwatsrichanpradit
College.
First it was Sri Lanka Schools Blue team that defeated their hosts
five points (one try) to nil. Pathum Dewsith scored the only try that
came in the 6th minute of the game which went unconverted. This also was
the only scoring done by both teams during the duration of the match.
The second game saw the Schools Red team come up with a better
performance to trounce the host team by a margin of 20 points (four
tries) to nil. The Lankan team failed to convert any of the tries.
The try scorers for the winning team were S.U. Deegala in the 5th
minute. Three minutes later Malintha Soysa scored, the other two tries
too came in the first session when Sharindra Iroshan 20th minute and
Kavindu Gayan pouched down in the 27th minute to put things beyond Hosts
reach.
These tour has given the young ruggerites a load of experience which
is a vital one for them as well as for the sport. The young ruggerites
are expected to arrive today in the island. |
