Ayurveda Walauwa

The “Walauwa” that promotes Ayurveda:

When Sunil Seneviratne, Managing Director, Ayurveda Walauwa, Bentota, first tried to promote Ayurveda in Switzerland, it was only a dream. Most of the leading tour operators took it as a joke, but Sunil was determined to begin his campaign to spread Sri Lanka’s traditional Ayurveda throughout the world.

In 1990 Sunil wrote to all the leading Travel Agents in Europe regarding the launch of Ayurveda. By 1996, he received a tremendous response from leading tour operators who had visited Sri Lanka to learn more about Sri Lanka’s traditional Ayurveda treatment.

“Since our foundation in 1990, our mission has been to always offer our guests Ayurveda treatment of highest and authenticity.

Sri Buddhadasa Health Resorts are designed and operated solely for in-house Ayurveda guests and offer a treasure of ancient, time-tested health rejuvenation secrets to rebuild “Youth from within” using simple all-natural methods, Sunil said.

“We named our resorts according to Buddhadasa, one of the first Kings of Sri Lanka. Buddhadasa was not only a king but one of the most excellent Ayurveda doctors in the country, who built hospitals,” Sunil said.

Sunil’s wife, Dr. Rita Albiez studied medicine and completed her exam in Basil Switzerland. Afterwards she was educated in Acupuncture in Sri Lanka for one year.

Spring of Life

When talking about the hotels spread around Sri Lanka that provide Ayurvedic methods of medicine, the Spring of Life, Ayurvedic Holiday Resort, instantly come to our mind. Though little popular among locals, it is very popular among tourists from Germany, Switzerland, Australia and other countries.

The history of Spring of Life goes back to the year 1989 where Mrs. Ursula Beier (popularly known as Sudu Amma or White mother), a German National, the founder of this hotel flexed her hands extensively in social welfare work in Sri Lanka.
Her main ambition was to introduce the correct Ayurvedic treatment in Sri Lanka to the Europeans. Spring of Life Holiday Resort borders from one end up to the magnificent Bolgoda lake and tiny forestry background spread with trees on either side centering eye catching attraction.

The noise of the birds break the silence in the vicinity, and the chimes of the temple bells of the temple from the riverside in the morning and evening feel that they are in a Hermitage or Ashram.

Here almost everything done in the prominence of religious matters is proved to be further confirmation in the given facts. In addition to the relief you will receive for your mind, guests will receive new life and energy to face their day to day life through the meditation workshops and yoga by chasing away their tire some mind.

Resort has eleven large bedrooms and the bathrooms are created to suit the Ayurvedic methods.

Every room has a private balcony facing the magnificent Bolgoda River. A speciality here is the organized workshops to get to know the local food preparations and short-term courses on Ayurveda.
