Stampede kills at least five at Hindu temple

At least five people were trampled to death and 15 injured in a stampede Thursday at a Hindu temple in southern India, a government minister said.

The stampede took place at a temple honoring the Hindu goddess Indrakala in Vijayawada, a city 270 kilometers (170 miles) east of the Andhra Pradesh state capital of Hyderabad, said state Endowments Minister Ratnakar Rao..Five of the injured were in serious condition, Rao said.
