Adhishtana Pooja
An Adhishtana Pooja will be held at the Kandy Sri Dalada Maligawa
today to mark the 10th anniversary of the LTTE bomb attack on the Dalada
Maligawa and invoke blessings on the country for peace, JHU Kandy
District Organiser Thushara Swarnatilleke said.
Ordaining ceremony
Five Deacons will be ordained by Chilaw Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Valence
Mendis and former Chilaw Bishop Rt. Rev. Dr. Franck Marcus Fernando
tomorrow at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cathedral, Chilaw.
The deacons to be ordained are Rev. Bros. W.D. Alex Nilantha Appuhamy,
(Kumarakattuwa Holy Rosary Church), W. Danushka Fernando, (Wennappuwa
St. Joseph Church), Niman Poojitha Dananja Silva, (Marawila Our Lady of
Purification Church), W. Ranil Sandaruwan Fernando (St. Mary's Church -
Waikkala Church) and W. Kamal Damian Perera (Dummalakotuwa Mary
Immaculate Church).
The newly ordained priests will offer their first Holy Mass on Sunday
in their parish churches.
Book launch
The latest book based on Buddhist teachings Kauda Oyalata Metharam
Boru Kivwe by the Most Ven. Kiribathgoda Gnanananda Thera will be
launched on Sunday at 4.00 pm at the All Ceylon Buddhist Congress
Auditorium, Bauddhaloka Mawatha, Colombo.
The Thera has written several books on Buddhist teachings. Ven. Dr.
Dodangoda Revatha Thera, Secretary General of the Mahabodhi Society of
India will preside.
The book is a Dayawansa Jayakody and Company publication.
Lecture
The monthly lecture of the RASSL will be held on Monday 5.00 p.m. at
the Gamini Dissanayaka Auditorium, Mahaweli Centre, 96, Ananda
Coomaraswamy Mawatha, Colombo 07.
The lecture titled 'An Interpretation into ambiguous materamajibaka
in the later Brahmi Inscriptions' will be presented by Prof. Anura
Manatunga.
The lecture is open to the public.
Commemoration
The National Science Foundation (NSF) has organised a series of
events to commemorate its 40 years of service to Science and Technology
in Sri Lanka.
The celebrations will commence with the launching of the NSF
publications by Science and Technology Minister, Prof. Tissa Vitarana on
January 29 at the NSF Auditorium.
Dr. C.R. Panabokke, a senior scientist and the first General
Secretary of the NSF will be felicitated at this ceremony by launching
his publication on "Ground Water Conditions in Sri Lanka". |
