Tiger transport base, seven bunkers destroyed

The Security Forces destroyed seven Tiger bunkers killing nine LTTE
cadres and injuring 12 others in Adampan, Mannar yesterday, Military
spokesman Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara said.

attacked Tiger bunkers in Adampan yesterday around 8.45 a.m.
“Troops ambushed the LTTE occupied territory in Adampan and captured
seven Tiger bunkers,” Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara told the Daily News.
The fighting lasted for two hours and the Security Forces
successfully retaliated.
“Intercepted Tiger communications revealed that nine LTTEers have
been killed and 12 others injured,” he added.
Two soldiers were injured.
Meanwhile, Air Force fighter jets pounded the LTTE transport base in
Selvanagar, Kilinochchi last morning, Air Force spokesman Wing Commander
Andrew Wijesuriya said.
According to Wijesuriya Air Force supersonic jets carried out an air
strike targeting an LTTE transport base in Selvanagar around 7.30 a.m.
“The Tiger transport base was 2 km southwest of Depot Junction in
Selvanagar,” he added.
The target was precise and accurate. “The air strike was carried out
following ground intelligence and air surveillance.”
Pilots confirmed the target was hit precisely, causing heavy damage
to the Tigers. |
