Massive development plan for North and East

The Government yesterday announced a massive development plan under the Reawakening programme to restore livelihoods through new agriculture and irrigation projects aimed at a sustainable social and economic integration of the community in the Northern and Eastern Provinces.

Rice price up due to more consumption

Agriculture Development and Agrarian Services Minister Maithripala Sirisena yesterday categorically denying certain media reports said the slight decline in wheat flour consumption and the release of rice stocks for animal feed have directly led to an increase in the prices of rice in the local market.
